Classic Guitar Information
![]()
This type of guitar is also known as a spanish guitar.
A classic guitar has six strings like an acoustic guitar
but the material of those strings is different though.
In stead of 6 steel strings on an acoustic,
on a classic guitar the 3 thinnest strings are made of nylon.
This is the reason this guitar produces a quite different sound
compared to an acoustic guitar.
This is also a reason some people like this guitar as a beginner,
because your fingers won't hurt as much.
Most classic guitars have a broader (flatter) neck
compared to acoustic guitars.
This is the reason the strings are further apart.
Unlike classic guitars, most acoustic guitars have a pickguard.
Another difference is the attachment of the strings. The classic guitar strings are attached differently (stronger)
at the upper end of the neck (pegbox).
The pegbox is slotted (allowing the strings to be wrapped around a spindle). Also different from acoustic guitars is that the strings are tied to the bridge
of a classic guitar by threading through the bridge and wrapping the strings
in a special spiral knot for tightness.
Some good brands for classic guitars are: Taylor, Yamaha, Seaqull, Aria & Ibanez.
This guitar is a good choice if you are focusing on classical music.
